Vimukti Girls School is a senior secondary school providing free education to 800 girls from slums of Jaipur. Education in all three streams- Humanities, Commerce and Science is offered at senior secondary level. Vimukti started in 2004 with 20 girls. In the past 20 years, Vimukti Sanstha has educated over 1800 girls through their schooling journey and have made remarkable progress in transforming the lives of young girls and their families. With Vimukti as proof of concept for the 10 Mantras, we are on the way to cracking the glass ceiling of entrenched urban poverty.

Program Highlights:

Our girls have reached national parity in ASSET testing, compared to private schools schools in India. ASSET, taken by 400,000 children in 800 private schools across India, measures comprehension rather than rote learning. All our girls and teachers take the ASSET test, ensuring that we benchmark our progress against the best schools in the country. At Vimukti, we started this journey in 2021 with a commitment to excellence. Private schools like Doon School, Dehradun, St. Xavier's Patna, and MGD, Jaipur, participate in this benchmark assessment.

Strong focus on Non-Academic Skills: Vimukti girls won medals for India in Turkey (2023) and in Thailand (2024) in the International Martial Arts Championship. 

25 Girls graduated from Grade 12 in 2023-2024 and all of them are continuing studies after graduating from high school.

ALL 10 MANTRAS AT WORK AT VIMUKTI

1. Free Education: Includes tuition, books, and uniforms.

2. Shorter School Days and a Longer School year: 278 day school year opposed to a norm of 200 but short school days, allowing girls to fulfill family responsibilities.

3. Safe Campus and Transportation: Largely all-female campus, with safe and time saving transportation by school buses.

4. Nutrition, Health and Hygiene: Includes a daily nutritious snack at school, annual health check-up and feminine hygiene products.

5. Quality Education: The pandemic led to innovation. All girls are now on a digital learning platform where each girl is regularly assessed and given a custom learning plan to bring her up to grade level, and to challenge any who could go beyond. Activities such as debating, leadership development and financial management offer additional life skills.

6. Performance Incentives: Annual stipends for staying in school with bonuses linked to performance (to be received only after High School graduation) and merit based awards for Science, Technology, English, and Math.

7. Science Stream: Added as a High School option for those aspiring to careers in fields such as engineering and medicine.

8. Vocational and College Scholarships and Career Counseling: For acquiring vocational skills and/or college degrees, and job placements.

9. Community Outreach: Well attended PTA meetings, educated mothers mentoring those in the impoverished communities and campaigns guided by girls to educate others on the benefits of delayed marriages and valued education.

10. Non-Academic Life Skills: To work effectively in the modern workplace, skills such as self defense, conflict management, leadership, personal finance and time management.
